Phone Numbers and Porting

Porting

Can I keep my phone number?

Transfer your phone number(s) 100% to sipcall (full porting). In this case, your landline connection will be canceled if desired (complete full porting).
Please note that any existing internet connection will also be canceled.

If you would like to keep your internet connection, a partial full porting must be ordered.

What is a partial full porting?

With a partial full porting, your phone number is fully ported without canceling other services (e.g., internet connection). For technical reasons, this is not always possible.

I have a cable connection. Can I port my phone number to sipcall?

Yes. Full porting of your phone number is possible without any issues, provided it is a Swiss phone number.

Note:
If you only want to port a single phone number to sipcall and do not yet have a sipcall account, it is recommended to order a sipcall home account.
More information can be found on our website under the "Bestellen" tab (Order) or at this link
Select the option "Einzelne Rufnummer" (Single phone number) and then the subscription "sipcall home".

I want to port my phone number(s), but I have already canceled my connection. What should I do now?

The following information applies only to fully ported CH numbers:

If you have already canceled your landline connection before porting, please check your cancellation date and the porting date:

  • If the porting date is before the cancellation date, there is no problem.
  • If your landline connection is canceled before the porting date, contact your previous provider immediately and postpone the cancellation until the porting date.

Note:

  • Porting can only be carried out with active phone numbers. Please always ensure that the phone numbers to be ported are active with your current provider (reserved phone numbers cannot be ported).
  • If your number has already been canceled, you may have the right to port your phone number within 20 - 40 days after cancellation (depending on the provider). After this period, you will lose any claim to the phone number.

I want to port my phone number(s) to sipcall. How do I proceed?

The following information applies only to CH numbers!

To port a single phone number to sipcall, the following steps must be completed:

  1. Create a new sipcall home account on our website by clicking the "Bestellen" button (Order) in the top right corner (category "Einzelne Rufnummer" = Single phone number).
  2. After completing the onboarding process for your sipcall home account, you are automatically logged in to your new sipcall user account. You now need to order the full porting separately by clicking on the "Full Porting" menu item at the top (your phone number is currently only partially ported). Then follow the individual steps in the ordering process.
  3. After ordering the full porting, you will receive a form that you must sign and return to sipcall.
  4. At the time of porting, your existing number will be fully taken over by sipcall.

Important notes:

The entire porting process takes approximately 3 weeks (depending on the porting type, it may take longer, e.g. if the notice period or contract term needs to be observed).

Important: Do not cancel your landline connection yourself. The cancellation is handled by sipcall. The form you signed serves as the cancellation of your existing connection if cancellation is desired. Please note that all services on the same connection may also be deleted. However, some providers may explicitly require a separate cancellation by the customer. Please clarify this directly with your provider.

Therefore, check with your current provider whether the cancellation has been received.

Further information on porting can be found on our website via this link.

In which countries does sipcall offer full porting?

sipcall offers full porting exclusively in Switzerland.

Can I port phone numbers from sipcall to another provider?

Yes, this is easily possible.

  • For sipcall-owned phone numbers, porting out is only possible 6 months after the number(s) were assigned. If you intend to port out earlier, an additional fee will apply.
  • Phone numbers that were previously ported from another provider to sipcall can be ported out again at any time.

For questions about conditions, procedure, or costs with the new provider, please contact them directly.

What are the costs associated with full porting?

Important: This article applies only to CH customers!

Porting a single phone number is not possible with the "sipcall free" and "sipcall classic" subscriptions.
For this, you need the "sipcall home" subscription.

How long does a full porting take?

The duration of the full porting depends on your order (with or without observing the notice period). If the notice period does not need to be observed, the porting can be completed within a few weeks.

Is porting possible without disconnecting the internet line?

Yes, it is possible to port the phone number(s) without disconnecting your internet line. In such cases, a partial full porting is always required (without canceling of the connection).

In this case, depending on the provider, an alternative phone number will be activated if technically required.

Note:

In such cases, we ask you to discuss the matter in advance with your current provider and inform yourself about the planned porting.

Can a mobile phone number (smartphone number) be ported to sipcall?

No, sipcall exclusively offers porting of landline phone numbers.
