Ubiquiti UniFi Talk

This installation guide explains how to create the sipcall profile on UniFi Talk and assign it to a sipcall phone number.

Create sipcall profile

Preparation

  • Access the web console of your UniFi Controller or Gateway.
  • Make sure that UniFi Talk is installed and up to date.
  • Open the "Talk" application.

Create SIP Provider Profile

  • Navigate to the "Settings" submenu (gear icon) in the left navigation.
  • Select "Phone Lines".

  • Now select the option Custom under "Provider".
  • Set the "Provider Name" to any name you choose, e.g., sipcall.

Enter fields

Click on Add Field under "Add Custom Field" and add the following parameters:

sipcall offers various SIP servers. More information can be found about sipcall SIP servers.

  • proxy
  • username
  • password
  • extension
  • register
  • context
  • expire-seconds
  • sip-force-expires

Register phone number

The sipcall configuration data can be found in the customer portal under "Phone numbers" -> "Phone number overview".

Click on the desired phone number to view the configuration data (within the "SIP Data" card).

Fill in the fields with the configuration data retrieved from the sipcall customer portal:

Define destination country and phone number

Click the "Select Countries" button, select Switzerland or Austria as appropriate, and confirm by clicking outside the selection pane.

Now enter the sipcall phone number to be registered in the "Phone Numbers" field (in the format +41xxxxxxxxxx).

Add IP address range

To ensure that incoming calls from the sipcall servers can be received by UniFi Talk, you must enter the following ACL entries by clicking on "Add IP Address Range":

  • 212.117.203.0/24

Save the entry by clicking "Apply Changes" and restart both the "Talk" application as well as the UniFi Phone Touch.

System Settings

Under "System" you can make further adjustments to improve call quality.

Codec

Please select the option "PCMA" in the "Audio Codec" dropdown menu.

Testing

Now test your VoIP phone by making both an incoming and outgoing call.

Calls to other sipcall numbers are possible without credit, while calls to paid landline or mobile networks require a sufficient balance on your sipcall account.
